What types of fastener nuts are there?

Type of Screw Nuts

  • Hexagonal Nut

Features and uses: widely used, products are divided into three grades: A, B, and C. Grade A has the highest precision and grade C has the worst. Grade A nuts are D≤16 mm, and grade B nuts are D>16 mm.

Type 2 nuts are about 10% thicker than type 1 nuts, and the performance level is also slightly higher. Thin nuts are used as auxiliary nuts when double nuts are loose, thick nuts are used in occasions where they are frequently disassembled, and flat nuts are used in occasions where tangential forces are the main force or the structural dimensions require compactness. Hexagonal flange nuts have better anti-loosening performance and can save spring washers. Spherical hexagonal nuts are mostly used for pipe connections.

  • Hexagonal locking and fastening nuts

Lock nuts with inserts have good anti-loosening performance and good elasticity.
Fastening nuts are generally used in conjunction with hexagonal nuts to prevent the nuts from loosening.

  • Special-shaped nuts:

Butterfly and ring nuts can generally be disassembled and assembled without tools, and are usually used in places where they are frequently assembled and disassembled and where the load is not large

Cap nuts are used where the end threads need to be covered

Round nuts are mostly fine-pitch threads, and are often used for connections with larger diameters. They are generally equipped with round nut locking washers. Small round nuts have a smaller outer diameter and thickness, and a compact structure. They are suitable for use in groups of two and can be fine-tuned in the axial direction

Knurled nuts and slotted nuts are mostly used in process equipment
