Basic knowledge of fasteners and their classification

Fasteners, also known as connectors, refer to general mechanical parts used to connect or fasten mechanical parts. They are indispensable components in mechanical design and are widely used in various industries, such as machinery manufacturing, construction, transportation, electronic appliances, etc.

The basic parameters of fasteners include:

  • Product name (standard): refers to the name of the fastener and the standard it is based on.
  • Specifications: refers to the main dimensional parameters of the fastener, including thread diameter, length, head type, nut type, etc.
  • Material: Common fastener materials include carbon steel, alloy steel, stainless steel, copper, aluminum, etc.
  • Strength grade: refers to the mechanical properties of the fastener, usually expressed by the tensile strength or shear strength of the bolt.
  • Surface treatment: Common surface treatment methods include galvanizing, nickel plating, blackening, oxidation, etc.

Fasteners can be classified according to the following methods:

  • General fasteners: General fasteners used to connect or fasten various mechanical parts, such as screws, nuts, washers, etc.
  • Special fasteners: Fasteners used for specific occasions or requirements, such as self-locking nuts, dowel pins, cotter pins, rivets, etc.
  • Threaded fasteners: Fasteners that use threaded connections to achieve fastening, such as screws, bolts, nuts, etc.

We produce fasteners of various national standards, such as German fasteners: fasteners produced according to German Industrial Standards (DIN); American fasteners: fasteners produced according to American standards (ANSI/ASME); Japanese fasteners: fasteners produced according to Japanese Industrial Standards (JIS), etc., to meet customers’ different needs for fasteners in practical applications.
